Gianfranco Ferre was born on August 15, 1944 in Lena, Italy. In 1969 he graduated from architecture in Milan. The fact that it comes from a wealthy family makes it a fighting man and exclusive perfectionist. His first job in a furniture design studio, and later worked as a jewelry designer Walter Albini. From 1970 to 1973 he studied fashion different techniques in India and there is developing very much like a pro. After his return home to work as a clothing designer Franco Mattioli, a few years later created their own fashion line under the name of Baila. In 1984 was named designer of the year.
In 1989 Ferre became chief designer of Christian Dior in France and in the meantime developed their own models. Nine years later, Ferre ceases to work for Dior and his own dedicated line.
Repeatedly won the prestigious Italian fashion award “Golden Eye”.
Gianfranco Ferre died on June 17, 2007 in Milan.
